Zora

Supported by Amartha’s funding, celery farmer Zora and her mother enthusiastically work in the garden under the burning midday sun. The garden surrounding their family home has been a vital part of their lives for over five years. With the working capital she received, Zora has transformed an abandoned plot of land into a productive garden. Producing celery, carrots, onions, and beans, the farm has become the source of main income for her family. As various crops are being planted and harvested alternately, Zora has been able to manage the production time in different cycles, hence generating income throughout the year. To help with the labor, her husband will lend a hand especially during the harvest time, where they typically produce 50 to 150 kg of vegetables, more than enough earnings to support the entire family.
