Muniarti

Yam Chips Maker

QR Code

Since 2019, Muniarti has been making spicy chips made of yam or “talas” from her home kitchen. From behind the fryer pans, she supervises production as her four workers prepare the materials, from peeling, washing, cutting, and frying the sliced root vegetables. Every cooking cycle produces 150 kg of talas chips, which are subsequently sold in stores and through partner retailers. Initially, Muniarti met her selling partner when she performed door-to-door sales; she offered them a consignment contract for IDR 12,000 (US$ 0.80) per package, which was then sold by the retailers at IDR 15,000 (US$ 0.96). As modest as it seems, the business model that Muniarti runs help stimulate the grassroots economy through trading sector.
